What are the best coffee grinders for home use?

It's great to have top-quality coffee...but if you don't have equally good coffee equipment, then you might not be making the most of your delicious beans!

In this post, we'll briefly explain why you need a top-quality coffee grinder, and give five top coffee grinders for home use.

Why are Coffee grinders important?

We always suggest that you grind your own coffee beans. There are lots of reasons for this, but the main one is that this ensures your coffee grounds are as fresh as possible.

This means they will have the maximum amount of flavour and aroma, making an all-round better coffee.

If you're interested in learning more about coffee grinders, then here blog post all about them.

However, you need to know what coffee grinders will actually be up to the task! Here are five tried and true coffee grinders that we recommend.

The Smart Grinder Pro by Sage

Our first top coffee grinder for home use is the Sage Smart Coffee Grinder Pro. It's no secret that we love all of the coffee machines made by Sage, and the Smart Grinder Pro is no exception!

This little powerhouse of a grinder is exactly what you need to get a perfect grind, every single time.

The simple LCD screen displays your grind setting, grind time and number of shots or cups which you have selected, and intelligent settings help your grinder achieve perfect results regardless of how fine or coarse you require your beans. Sage machines With 60 unique settings, this programmable conical burr grinder amplifies the potential of any brew. Choose between ‘cups’ for French press or filter and ‘shots’ for espresso to get the right dose for the coffee you brew.

Sboly Conical Burr Coffee Grinder

Next up is the Sboly Conical Burr Coffee Grinder. Even though this isn't a well-known brand, you shouldn't count this grinder out.

The stainless steel conical burrs grind coffee beans very well, and there are 19 different grind settings. You can use for a coarse grind (e.g. for a cafetiere) up to a super fine grind (e.g. for an espresso).

It also has a very large bean hopper, which can hold up to 14 cups worth of beans. But our favourite thing about the Sboly Burr Grinder is how easy it is to clean.

The upper burr is removable, and the grinder comes with a brush that can be used to clean all the nooks and crannies. It's a very convenient little device.

Krups Expert G VX 231

There is no question about the quality of the Krups Expert G VX 242. This professionally designed burr grinder has 17 different settings, from extra fine to coarse.

It's consistent, and very easy to use - just push one button, and it starts grinding. It makes up to 12 cups with one grind, which means you won't be constantly refilling it, either.

We particularly like the safety feature on the Krups. It won't grind if the hopper lid or the grind container are missing.

Furthermore, this coffee grinder is compact and lightweight, making it perfect for a small kitchen or office space.

This is perhaps more of an entry-level machine, but it holds its own against many coffee grinders available.

Iberital MC2 Coffee Grinder

If you're looking for a grinder specifically for espresso, then the Iberital MC2 Coffee Grinder might be the one for you.

The burr grinder is expertly designed to grind the perfect espresso, every time. It's a bit different from the other grinders we've mentioned because it doesn't have a hopper - instead, it has a chute.

This means that you won't need to grind more coffee than you need. It's also a pretty quiet grinder (as quiet as grinding beans with force can be!)

Although you can change between coarse and fine settings, we definitely recommend only using the MC2 for a fine espresso coffee grind. That's really what it's designed to do - and it does it well.

This machine definitely punches well above its weight when it comes to the quality of the espresso for the price.

Hario Skerton Hand Grinder

Finally, we think that the Hario Skerton Hand Grinder is also worth looking at. As the name suggests, this is a hand grinder, meaning that you will have to crank the handle yourself.

However, if you're someone who only drinks one or two cups of coffee a day, you won't be expending too much energy with this hand grinder.

Even though it's a hand grinder, the Skerton (as it's known) has lovely ceramic burrs that crush the coffee beans.

You can adjust the grind size, making it a very versatile option. The coffee bean grinder is also very durable, with a robust glass chamber and ergonomic grips, and it's washable and dishwasher safe, which is particularly handy!

Hario made the Hario V60 which is a quality grinder for your home use. Once your coffee is grinded, the Hario V60 coffee dripper is also worth looking into.

The brand put quality first and you are sure of getting your money's worth.
